Our Ministry Vision
Who are we? Why are we here? What do we do?
Calvary Reformed Presbyterian Church exists to engage people with the truth of Jesus through a loving community.
So we seek to obey Jesus' Great Commission to His Church where we are:
People: All people were created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. The call to follow Jesus is not limited to any particular nation or race, for we are tasked to engage the people of all nations with the Good News of Who Jesus is and What He has done for us. The Gospel tears down the walls of hostility that would divide people and unites them together in Christ. This connects with the “go” of the Great Commission.
Truth: The Good News of Jesus is the power of God for the salvation of people. The Church, then, is called to teach everything Jesus has commanded, the whole Gospel. We are called to equip believers to grow in Christ, learning to understand and live out the totality of the Word of God. We are called to bear witness to non-Christians what all of Scripture says about the Lord of Glory and the life He calls us to live. This connects to the “teach” of the Great Commission.
Community: The Church is central to God’s work of redemption in this world. This is what baptism signifies: entrance into the covenant community of faith, the Body of Christ. As a particular part of this visible church, Calvary is called to live out the Gospel in love for God and neighbor. Whether her members are assembled as a church family or scattered to their lives and vocations, CRPC seeks to bear witness to the love of Jesus in all our relationships. This connects to the “baptize” of the Great Commission.
These core values lead us to focus on ever improving in our:
Discipleship: As servants of Christ, our whole being is governed by His rule: our speech, our families, our jobs, our finances, our politics, etc. He is the Great King who is bringing about His purposes for this world, and He calls us to be a part of that work. We want to learn to live out the grace and Lordship of Christ in all of life.
Evangelism: Though God created the world in holiness, righteousness, and truth, mankind’s fall into sin and rebellion shattered that beauty. The Good News is that Jesus has not only redeemed His people from sin, but He will also restore all things in Himself. Our church longs to have an outward face to see how we might point people to Jesus and serve Him in our community.
So what are we doing to accomplish this ministry vision?
We are disciples of Jesus making disciples by worshipping, growing, and serving together in Him.
This mission summarizes the activities we prioritize as a church family:
Worship: All people were created to glorify and enjoy God forever. God’s person and work should leave us amazed. He is worthy of praise! Calvary is dedicated to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in all that we are and all that we do.
Grow: We are called to grow up into the likeness of Christ in our thoughts, words, and deeds. We have a real hope that Jesus changes people and communities as the Spirit works through the means of grace, whether formally through the officers or informally as members minister to others.
Serve: We seek to love God and neighbor generously and sacrificially because God loves us so in Christ. We share the love of God within our congregation and out in our community as we serve selflessly in word and deed.
Together: We devote ourselves to these things not as disconnected individuals, but as a particular community of faith committed to encouraging one another as we spur one another on towards love and good deeds.
